Unit Descriptor
Unit Descriptor |
This unit covers the competency required to conduct high-risk military searches of areas, routes, vehicles, buildings, property and objects to find items of equipment and other material intended to cause harm to individuals and to destroy or damage property. The search would be conducted where the likelihood of injury or death to the searcher is high. The search is conducted in accordance with the level of search and category of the search . This Unit of Competency does cover the neutralisation of suspect devices but does not cover the render safe of suspect devices. The individual is required to detect, identify and report the presence of any weapon, device or other object intended to cause harm and to prove, mark and record safe routes. The individual will usually work under supervision as part of a team. |
Application of the Unit
Application of the Unit |
The application of this unit in the workplace - the environments, complexities and situations involved - will be written during Phase II of the Review of the PUA00 Public Safety Training Package. This text will be useful for the purposes of job descriptions, recruitment advice or job analysis; where possible, it will not be too job specific to allow other industries to import it into other Training Packages, where feasible. |

Evidence Guide
EVIDENCE GUIDE |
|
Critical aspects for assessment and evidence required to demonstrate competency in this unit |
Assessment must confirm the ability to conduct the following searches:
Individuals should be involved in a search activity by day and night. Consistency in performance Competency should be demonstrated over a number of activities, exercises or incidents. |
Context of and specific resources for assessment |
Context of assessment Competency should be assessed in a simulated work environment due to the high-risk associated with the activity. The simulation should replicate a live task where the pressure, stress and fatigue are as real as possible. Individuals should be involved in a search activity by day and night. Specific resources for assessment Access to equipment and appropriate resources to comply with the task requirements. |
Guidance information for assessment |
Information that will assist or guide assessment will be written during Phase II of the Review of the PUA00 Public Safety Training Package. |
