Application
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to evaluate the impact on sustainability arising from a defined section of a work area or process and recommend improvements.
This unit applies to the evaluation of a section of a value chain that is totally within the boundaries of a selected work area or process in order to identify its broad sustainability impacts and make recommendations for mitigating negative sustainability impacts.
This unit applies to team leaders, maintenance staff, technicians, managers and others who have some responsibility for the sustainability outcomes of a team and/or work area.
This unit applies to any organisation.
No licensing or certification requirements exist at the time of publication. Relevant legislation, industry standards and codes of practice within Australia must be applied.

- Reading skills to interpret workplace documentation and information about approaches to sustainability
- Writing skills to communicate familiar and unfamiliar workplace information
- Oral communication skills to discuss sustainability issues and sensitivities and possible solutions and mitigation strategies with people at different levels of the organisation
- Numeracy skills to perform calculations using time, quantities, fractions and percentages
- Learning skills to identify and interpret information about approaches to sustainability.
Other foundation skills essential to performance are explicit in the performance criteria of this unit.
