Application

This unit describes the skills and knowledge to lead teams in developing and implementing strategies for more sustainable use of resources. The team may be in operations, an operational support function or along the value chain.

This unit applies where a team leader needs to integrate a range of skills and knowledge covering process skills and knowledge and sustainability. The team leader must lead and assist team members to understand and apply a holistic view of their job and the team's role within the organisation, and the objectives that the team must meet as part of the sustainability impacts made by the enterprise.

No licensing or certification requirements exist at the time of publication. Relevant legislation, industry standards and codes of practice within Australia must be applied.

Performance Evidence

There must be evidence the candidate has completed the tasks outlined in the elements and performance criteria of this unit, and:

  • led and mentored at least 1 team to develop competencies in identifying and acting on sustainability issues.

Knowledge Evidence

There must be evidence the candidate has knowledge of:

  • techniques to assess skills and knowledge of team members
  • procedures relevant to jobs and processes in work area
  • methods of making and recommending improvements
  • environmental impacts of materials and energy used and emitted
  • environmental sensitivities of all areas impacted by the work, process area or containment
  • root cause analysis and problem solving
  • mitigation strategies as relevant to work or process area
  • sustainability issues relevant to the work or process area
  • standards and regulations relevant to work or process area.

Assessment Conditions

Skills must have been demonstrated in the workplace or in a simulated environment that reflects workplace conditions, contingencies, facilities, equipment and resources.

Assessors must satisfy the NVR/AQTF mandatory competency requirements for assessors.
