Qualification Description
This qualification is the industry qualification for persons undertaking animal control and regulatory functions. Animal control and regulation (also known as urban animal management) is a function provided by local and State/Territory governments. It provides a community management service comprising four elements - regulation, education, information and infrastructure.
The job role that this qualification describes is an animal management officer undertaking animal control and regulatory functions.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication. However, an individual unit of competency may specify relevant licensing, legislative and/or regulatory requirements. Specific determination should be sought through the relevant state or territory authority.
Entry Requirements
There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
Packaging Rules
To achieve this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in:
- 16 units of competency:
- 11 core units plus
- 5 elective units.
Elective units must ensure the integrity of the qualification’s Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome. The electives are to be chosen as follows:
- 3 from the electives listed below
- up to 2 from any currently endorsed Training Package or accredited course.
