Description:

Paramedics completing the Graduate Certificate in Enhanced Assessment and Critical Reasoning (Queensland Ambulance Service) will fulfil the education requirements to:
• Work as a registered paramedic for the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) with an extended scope of practice in enhanced assessment and critical reasoning.

Additional functions, duties and specialist skills related to this extended scope of practice include:
• conduct enhanced holistic patient assessments including comprehensive medical and social history taking and focused clinical examinations
• engage in advanced clinical reasoning to identify, evaluate and prioritise the management of patients with complex care needs
• plan and facilitate care pathways for patients with complex care needs
• provide contemporary wound management in accordance with best practice guidelines and organisational policy and procedures
• develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with local and regional health and community services to optimise service delivery and improve patient outcomes
