• Aboriginal industry partners employed by other government and non-government agencies ie Counsellors, Safe House Workers, Refuge Workers, Court Support Workers, Early Childhood workers, Mental Health, Witness Assistance Officers.
Function/duty/specialist skill:
• Provide culturally sensitive therapeutic support to Aboriginal people who have experienced interpersonal violence
• Deliver specialist counselling to Aboriginal people affected by histories of interpersonal trauma such as adult sexual assault, child sexual assault, domestic family violence, child physical and emotional abuse and neglect
• Undertake complex case management for Aboriginal people affected by interpersonal violence and associated trauma
• Deliver trauma informed practice within a family and community based model
• Apply clinical judgment with Aboriginal victims of interpersonal violence and with their families and communities
• Represent client’s emotional, cultural and social best interests to interagency partners and non-Aboriginal service providers
