Description:

This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to perform the following tasks associated with the use of child car restraints:
• provide advice and consumer information regarding the different types of restraints and their suitability for use according to the child’s age and size as outlined in the Type 1 Child Car Restraint Fitters Manual (the Manual);
• provide advice and consumer information regarding the correct installation and use of restraints as outlined in the Manual;
• inspect the existing installation of restraints in vehicles and refer, where necessary, to a Type 2 Authorised Fitting Service, Department of Transport’s Vehicle Examiner as outlined in the Manual;
• provide information regarding the consequences of non-use of restraints or inappropriate use of restraints and the need to restrain every child every trip as outlined in the Manual; and
• correctly fit restraints in vehicles to the standard specified in the Manual.
