Description

The testing and verification of compliance of reeling, trailing and flexible cables supplying equipment used in the quarries, open cut and underground mines is subject to the compliance with applicable Australian and New Zealand Standards and applicable legislation/regulation including but not limited to:

AS/NZS 1747 Reeling, trailing and feeder cables used in mining-Repair, testing and fitting of accessories

AS/NZS 1802 Electric cables - Reeling and trailing - For underground coal mining purposes

AS/NZS 1972 Electric cables - Underground coal mines - Other than reeling and trailing

AS/NZS 2802 Electric cables - Reeling and trailing for mining and general use (other than underground coal mining)

AS/NZS 4761.1.2008, Competencies for working with electrical equipment for hazardous areas (EEHA) Part 1 – Competency standards;

AS/NZS 4761.2.2008, Competencies for working with electrical equipment in hazardous areas (EEHA) Part 2 – Guide to assessing competency;

This Skill Set has been developed to allow industry to provide training to its operatives to ensure compliance.

Pathways Information

The units of competency in this skill set will contribute to the completion of relevant Certificate III, Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma qualifications from the UEE11 Electrotechnology Training Package. Please consult the packaging rules of the relevant qualification for further advice.

Licensing/Regulatory Information

This Skill Set meets the competency and AS/NZS Standards compliance requirements in accordance with regulations for the registration of a Licenced Cable Repairer or equivalent under applicable jurisdictional legislation and/or regulation
