Qualification details

Release 4 . This is the third release of this qualification in the TLI Transport and Logistics Training Package. The following general elective units have been updated:

• BSBLDR411 Demonstrate leadership in the workplace
• BSBPMG537 Manage project procurement
• BSBSTR402 Implement continuous improvement
• BSBTWK503 Manage meetings
• TLIL0003 Apply asset management system.

Release 3.  This is the third release of this qualification in the TLI Transport and Logistics Training Package. The following general elective unit has been added:

• TLIF0013 Manage the impact of human capabilities/limitations on human performance in a rail environment.

Release 2.  This is the second release of this qualification in the TLI Transport and Logistics Training Package. The following modifications have been made:

• TLIF0008 Apply safety critical communications in the rail environment added to general elective units
• Imported unit updated.

Release 1.  This is the first release of this qualification in the TLI Transport and Logistics Training Package.

This is a qualification for those engaged in the management of safety within the rail industry.

This qualification requires a broad range of skilled applications within the rail safety environment. It also requires the skills and knowledge to evaluate and analyse current practices, to develop new criteria and procedures, and to provide some leadership and guidance to others in their work.

Job roles 

This qualification is aligned to the following defined role:

• rail safety manager.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

A total of 17 units of competency  comprising:

11 core units  listed below, plus 

6 general elective units  from the general elective units listed below.

Up to 3 of the general elective units  may be selected from any relevant nationally endorsed Training Package. The general elective units must contribute to the vocational outcomes of the qualification.

Where imported units are selected, care must be taken to ensure that all prerequisite units specified are complied with.

This qualification replaces and is equivalent to TLI42413 Certificate IV in Rail Safety Management.
