Release 1.  This is the first release of this qualification in the TLI Transport and Logistics Training Package.

Qualification Description

This is a qualification for those engaged in specialist driving operation job roles in the transport and logistics industry.

It involves a broad range of technical and skilled application in a specific area, including requirements to evaluate and analyse current practices, and to provide leadership and guidance to others in applying skills.

Job roles 

Job roles and titles vary across different sectors. Possible job titles relevant to this qualification include:

  • bitumen tanker driver
  • chemical tanker driver
  • fuel tanker driver
  • heavy vehicle recovery driver
  • liquid petroleum gas (LPG) tanker driver
  • transport supervisor

Please note: RTO to insert on the testamur, the specialist elective unit group selected from the group choice below.

Successful achievement of the licensing unit in the qualification must align with licensing and regulatory requirements applicable to driving and state or territory regulatory requirements.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

Packaging Rules

A total of 12 units  of competency comprising:

  • 5 core units, plus 
  • All units in one  of the specialist elective groups, plus 
  • 5 general elective units  if selecting specialist elective Group, A, B, D, or 
  • 6 general elective units  if selecting specialist elective Group C.

Up to 3 of the general elective units  may be selected, from any relevant nationally endorsed Training Package or accredited course. The general elective units must contribute to the vocational outcomes of the qualification.

Where imported units are selected, care must be taken to ensure that all prerequisite units specified are complied with. Prerequisites attached to any of the units must be obtained and are additional to the number of units required for the qualification.
