Entry requirements :

The entry requirements for this qualification are TLI21310 Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure (Track Work) or equivalent vocational competency gained by working within the rail infrastructure environment.

The Certificate III in Rail Infrastructure qualification is aligned to the following defined groups :

Group A : Rail infrastructure  - Track Maintenance 

This includes but is not limited to the following job roles:

  • Senior track maintainer
  • Ganger

Group B : Rail infrastructure  - Track Construction 

This includes but is not limited to the following job roles:

  • Senior track installer
  • Ganger

Group C : Rail infrastructure  - Turnout Construction 

This includes but is not limited to the following job roles:

  • Specialist track installer
  • Special ganger

Group D : Rail infrastructure  - Track Welding 

This includes but is not limited to the following job role:

  • Track welder

Group E : Rail infrastructure  - Track Examination

Packaging Rules

Requirements for completion of the qualification :

A successful assessment outcome for a total of 11 to 13 units  of competency comprising:

  • core  units as listed below:

plus

  • all units  within one of the selected groups (job roles) as listed below

plus

  • 4 elective units  which may be taken from the elective units  listed below, or may include up to 3 units  drawn with appropriate contextualisation from any currently endorsed national Training Package or accredited course.

Where the choice of a unit from another currently endorsed national Training Package or accredited course is made, this unit must contribute towards the vocational outcome of the qualification.

Where imported units are selected, care must be taken to ensure that all pre-requisites specified are complied with.
