Release 1 . This is the first release of this qualification in the TLI Transport and Logistics Training Package.

Qualification Description

This qualification is for those engaged in or entering the road transport terminal operations environment.

It involves a prescribed range of tasks including known routines and procedures, freight handling and other duties, and the use of technology.

It provides a foundation for career opportunities within the wider road transport sector.

This qualification is suitable for:

  • students undertaking VET in school
  • school leavers
  • new workers
  • transitional workers into the industry.

Job roles 

Job roles and titles vary across different sectors. Possible job roles relevant to this qualification include:

  • equipment operator
  • receival and despatch worker
  • pick and packer
  • specialised cargo handler
  • administration assistant
  • intermodal terminal worker
  • freight handler
  • drivers’ assistant
  • trade assistant
  • heavy vehicle cleaner.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

Packaging Rules

A total of 16 units of competency  comprising:

  • 9 core units  listed below, plus 
  • 1 specialist elective unit  from Group A (Fatigue risk management), plus 
  • 6 general elective units  from Group B listed below.

Up to 2 of the general elective units  may be selected from any relevant nationally endorsed Training Package or accredited course. The general elective units must contribute to the vocational outcomes of the qualification.

Where imported units are selected, care must be taken to ensure that all prerequisite units specified are complied with.
