1. Update knowledge of basic rules and regulations of tennis.

Evidence of the ability to:

• access and use ITF Rules of Tennis to find relevant information on basic rules
• use a range of resources to develop knowledge of tennis rules and regulations including:

• rules and etiquette for non-umpired matches
• tennis dress and equipment regulations
• sport-specific tournament and competitions pathways
• basic tournament regulations
• interpret and apply basic tennis rules during court supervision.

Context of and specific resources for assessment 

Assessment must ensure:

• application of the basic rules and regulations of tennis.

Assessment must also ensure access to:

• information sources in order to collect sufficient information
• a copy of the ITF rules, NSO specific rules, regulations and code of behaviour.

Method of assessment 

A range of assessment methods should be used to assess practical skills and knowledge. The following examples are appropriate for this unit:

• oral or written questioning to assess knowledge of basic tennis rules
• case studies and problem-solving exercises to assess ability to interpret and apply basic tennis rules and regulations
• oral or written questioning or interview to test knowledge of sport-specific code of behaviour, tournament and competition pathways and basic regulations.
