This is the first release of this qualification RII21315 Certificate II in Cross Industry Operations.

Qualification Description

This qualification reflects the roles of individuals who undertake a prescribed range of tasks and procedures using limited practical skills and fundamental knowledge, in a defined context working under supervision.

This qualification supports occupational outcomes for multiple industry sectors which have common entry level skill and knowledge requirements including:

  • compliance with workplace health & safety requirements
  • assessment and control of risks
  • operating and maintaining machinery
  • using hand and power tools
  • identifying and responding to environmental concerns

Certificate II in Cross Industry Operations is a pathway qualification which will prepare an individual to undertake a sector specific Certificate II or III qualification. It must not be used where an existing industry specific qualification can achieve the required occupational outcome.

Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements that apply to this qualification can vary between states, territories, and industry sectors. Relevant information must be sourced prior to application of the qualification.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements to this qualification.

Packaging Rules

The following provides the packaging rules for this qualification, followed by the list of relevant units of competency.

Total number of units = 14 

4 core units  plus

10 elective units,  of which:

  • four (4) units must be chosen from Group A listed below;
  • occupational stream 1 - three (3) units must be chosen from any currently endorsed qualification;
  • occupational stream 2 - three (3) units must be chosen from any currently endorsed qualification.

Two different industry sectors must be chosen for occupational streams 1 and 2. Each industry sector must reflect the characteristics described in the Qualification Description.

Units selected for Group A must reflect industry needs of both occupational streams.

Units selected for both occupational streams must reflect current occupational and learning outcomes of this AQF qualification level; and, be directly applicable to industry defined outcomes for each of the industry sectors chosen.

There are both licensed and non-licensed units of competency relating to high risk work. To be appointed under any statutory requirements in related roles, units of competency should be selected to meet the state/territory requirements.
