Application
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to command operational groups within a compliance or law enforcement operational environment.
This unit applies to operations group commanders who work independently supervising others to execute patrol plans and orders, performing complex tasks in a broad range of contexts.
The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.
No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1. Prepare and plan for the group’s role in the operation. |
1.1. Clarify group tasks with the operation commander. 1.2. Issue warning order to group members. 1.3. Gather all relevant information, including that from a planned reconnaissance. 1.4. Plan the operation using operational command principles and the appreciation process. 1.5. Confirm plan and obtain endorsement from the operation commander. |
2. Communicate the plan to group members. |
2.1 Produce written orders in the operational command format. 2.2. Issue oral orders to group members in accordance with standing operating procedures. |
3. Conduct operations. |
3.1. Deploy operation resources according to the plan. 3.2. Maintain the group under command and control for the duration of the operation. 3.3. Monitor situation and resources to ensure attainment of the mission. 3.4. Support the group mission by redeploying resources in response to situational and resource changes. |
4. Conduct post operation processes. |
4.1. Conduct the group debrief in accordance with standing operating procedures. 4.2. Make contributions to the operational debrief in accordance with standing operating procedures. 4.3. Make contributions to the post-operation report by providing relevant information on group activities. |
