Application

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to analyse and implement network data.

It includes determining the scope of network data and analysing, verifying and documenting network data.

This unit applies to leaders in water organisations with responsibility for the management of network data.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Determine scope of network data

Determine network data requirements from work specifications

Determine security requirements for network data system to prevent unauthorised access

Determine and obtain, as required, relevant equipment, software and testing devices

Identify programming functions to produce network data according to operational procedures

Provide programming support for relevant personnel

Analyse and verify network data

Analyse data generated for accuracy according to work specifications

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all the requirements of the elements and performance criteria on at least one occasion and includes:

  • analysing and actioning data output
  • determining and actioning security procedures to prevent unauthorised access to data
  • distributing data generated by the network to relevant persons
  • identifying programming needs and provide programming support to personnel
  • obtaining relevant equipment, software and testing devices to keep integrity of data current
  • testing data output for accuracy and quality assurance

Knowledge Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all the requirements of the elements and performance criteria and includes knowledge of:

  • analysis techniques
  • data interrogation techniques
  • data testing procedures
  • problem solving techniques
  • programming specifications

Assessment Conditions

Assessors must hold credentials specified within the Standards for Registered Training Organisations current at the time of assessment.

Assessment must satisfy the Principles of Assessment and Rules of Evidence and all regulatory requirements included within the Standards for Registered Training Organisations current at the time of assessment.

Assessment must occur in suitable workplace operational situations. Where this is not appropriate, assessment must occur in suitable simulated workplace operational situations reflecting actual workplace conditions.

Assessment processes and techniques must be appropriate to the language, literacy and numeracy requirements of the work being performed and the needs of the candidate.

Resources for assessment must include access to:

  • relevant and appropriate materials, tools, facilities, equipment and personal protective equipment currently used in industry
  • applicable relevant documentation including workplace procedures, industry standards, equipment specifications, regulations, codes of practice and operation manuals.
