Description

This Skill Set reflects the skills requirements to process biomass using pyrolysis to produce a range of products, such as biochar, bio-oil and gases (hydrogen, carbon monoxide, methane) which can be used to produce heat, power, chemicals or additives. It includes pre-treating biomass and the operation of the pyrolyser reactor and the ancillary and distillation equipment. It also includes dealing with bioprocessing hazards, such as, dangerous gas emissions and shutting down and isolating machines and equipment in emergencies.

These units provide credit towards the Certificate III in Process Manufacturing.
