Performance Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate the ability to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including evidence of the ability to:

  • connect at least one device with at least two newly configured internal hardware components.

In the course of the above, the candidate must:

  • configure devices to accept newly connected internal hardware components
  • document installation process for each configured component
  • apply required organisational policies and procedures.

Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must be able to demonstrate knowledge to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including knowledge of:

  • functions and features of:
  • common internal hardware components
  • technical vendor specifications for internal hardware components
  • hardware configuration and installation plans
  • methods to prepare required internal hardware components for configuration
  • configuration instructions and techniques for connecting and operating internal hardware components on devices
  • types of devices and their suitability for different internal hardware components
  • common methods to test system performance against organisational benchmarks
  • common methods to review evaluation criteria for internal hardware components
  • common types of hardware constraints
  • organisational formats for documentation and reports
  • organisational policies and procedures, and legislative requirements relating to work tasks.

Assessment Conditions

Skills in this unit must be demonstrated in a workplace or simulated environment where the conditions are typical of those in a working environment in this industry.

This includes access to:

  • a device on which internal hardware components are to be installed
  • technical specifications and tools for installation and configuration
