Qualification Description
This qualification applies to individuals working as print machinists who typically set up and operate letterpress, lithographic, flexographic, gravure printing presses, digital printers or screen printers and work on a range of printed products. They prepare material, monitor and run equipment and machinery and apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems. They may also provide leadership and guidance to others with some limited responsibility for the output of others.

Packaging Rules
Total number of units = 21 units
4 core units , plus
17 elective units of which:
- 8 elective units must be from Group A
- 4 elective units must be from Group B
- 3 elective units must be from Group A, B and/or C
- the remaining 2 elective units may be selected from the remaining elective units, from any currently endorsed training package or accredited course at Certificate III or IV level.
This qualification can provide for specialisations in specific modes of printing. Elective units that support the particular specialisation must be selected from Group B. Refer to the Companion Volume Implementation Guide for specific advice about choosing electives to support specialisations.
Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the integrity of the AQF alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.
