Qualification Description
This qualification reflects the role of workers who assist a dentist, dental hygienist, dental prosthetist, dental therapist or oral health therapist during oral health care procedures. Their role includes maintaining high standards of infection control, assisting with practice administration and supporting quality and professionalism in the dental sector.
To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 250 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.
No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Packaging Rules
Total number of units = 11
- 9 core units
- 2 elective units, consisting of:
- up to 2 units from the list of electives below, or
- up to 2 units from any endorsed Training Package or accredited course – these units must be relevant to the work outcome
All electives chosen must contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.
