This unit of competency describes the outcomes required to use recovery equipment and advanced skills to recover four-wheel drive (4x4) vehicles in difficult terrain conditions.
The unit applies to those who recover 4x4 vehicles in a variety of work settings.

2.1 Establish and maintain communications with appropriate personnel during recovery operations. 2.2 Determine recovery method based on the terrain conditions and circumstances. 2.3 Consider operating variables, define danger zone and apply strategies to reduce risk and environmental impact during recovery. 2.4 Determine the recovery equipment required and its availability. 2.5 Set up an exclusion zone. 2.6 Repair environmental damage where possible. |
