Qualification Description

This qualification is designed for job roles in the timber manufactured products sector of the forest and wood products industry.

Job roles

This qualification has six employment pathways for operational environments in the forest and forest products industry. These are:

  • Grader
  • Manufacturing Assistant (Timber Products)
  • Saw Operator
  • Timber Manufacturing Worker
  • Timber Products Worker
  • Timber Puller

Licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements may apply to units in this qualification in some states and territories at the time of publication and may differ according to jurisdiction.

Some imported units in the elective bank may be subject to licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements. These units must be implemented in line with the licensing requirements outlined in the units parent Training Package.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

Packaging Rules

To achieve this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in:

  • 13 units of competency:
  • 5 core units plus
  • 8 elective units.

Elective units must ensure the integrity of the qualification’s Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome. The electives are to be chosen as follows:

  • 3 units from Group A
  • 5 units from Group A and/or Group B, the total of which can include up to 2 units recommended for packaging at Certificate I, II or III level from this or any other endorsed Training Package or state/territory accredited course.

Elective units must be relevant to work undertaken in the timber manufactured products sector of the industry.
