Qualification Description
This qualification is designed for job roles in the sawmilling and processing sector of the forest and forest products industry.
This qualification has seven employment pathways for typical operational environments in sawmilling and processing. These are:
- Kiln Worker
- Timber Grader
- Treatment Plant Worker
- Production Worker
- Sawmill Worker
- Saw Technician
- Wood Machinist
Some imported units in the elective bank may be subject to licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements. These units must be implemented in line with the licensing requirements outlined in the unit’s parent Training Package.
Entry Requirements
There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
Packaging Rules
To achieve this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in:
- 13 units of competency:
- 5 core units plus
- 8 elective units.
Elective units must ensure the integrity of the qualification’s Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome. The electives are to be chosen as follows:
- 3 from Group A electives listed below
- 5 from Group A and/or Group B electives listed below, the total of which can include up to 2 units recommended for packaging at Certificate I, II or III level from this or any other currently endorsed Training Package or accredited course.
