1. Prepare for ceremonial activities 

1.1 Clothing , accessories and equipment  for drill and ceremonial activities  are prepared in accordance with standard procedures. 

1.2 Drill movements are practised under supervision to achieve the required standards.

2. Participate in ceremonial activities 

2.1 Clothing, accessories and equipment are worn in accordance with standard procedures.

2.2 All drill movements as required for the relevant ceremonial activity are executed in accordance with standard procedures.

This describes the essential skills and knowledge and their level, required for this unit.

Required Skills 

• apply turns and inclines at the halt
• apply turns and inclines on the march in quick time
• change from slow to quick march and quick to slow march
• conduct drill with arms
• eyes right and left in slow and quick time, open and close order on the march in slow while marching in line
• form ranks, stand at ease and stand easy
• leave ranks, report to an officer and be dismissed
• march and halt in quick time
• march, halt, turn and incline in slow time
• march in line, change direction by forming at the halt and on the march in slow and quick time
• move on parade and advance in review order
• number, prove and right dress
• participate in a ceremonial parade or activity
• perform as a member of a ceremonial parade
• perform drill to the drum
• perform paces, close order and officer on parade dismissed
• perform salutes

Required Knowledge 

• fronts and flanks
• generic parade sequences
• meaning of words of command
• preparation of clothing and equipment in accordance with Standing Orders for Dress
• purpose of drill
• types of ceremonial activities that employ drill

• participate in a ceremonial activity

• publications and equipment relevant to the type of ceremonial activity

Ceremonial drill movements  may include:
