Description

This qualification enables learners to use a range of skills and techniques to produce arts and craft works. They have the ability to select, adapt and transfer skills to different situations. Job roles are limited at this level.

The local cultural knowledge necessary to achieve some of the units of competency in this qualification may only be accessible to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people. Any organisation or individual planning to offer this qualification would be expected to work closely with the local Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community, for example through establishing a local Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander reference group.

This qualification prepares people for working in a range of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts contexts. It also prepares people for the higher-level learning that supports professional art practice.

Total number of units = 12

• 4 units from Group A
• of the remaining 2 units:

• up to 2 may be from Group A and/or Group B
• up to 2 may be from a Certificate II or above in any currently endorsed Training Package or accredited course.
