Elements and Performance Criteria Pre-Content

Elements describe the essential outcomes of a unit of competency.

Performance criteria describe the performance needed to demonstrate achievement of the element. Where bold italicised text is used, further information is detailed in the required skills and knowledge section and the range statement. Assessment of performance is to be consistent with the evidence guide.

Elements and Performance Criteria

ELEMENT

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

2. Determine specific production requirements from performance outline/script

2.1. Undertake a detailed breakdown of the outline /script and determine accurate and precise production requirements

2.2. Accurately document requirements in a format suited to the area of production

2.3. Identify and document any areas of the production which require clarification with colleagues

2.4. Consult colleagues to confirm and clarify production requirements

3. Integrate key information into planning and pre-production

3.1. Distribute key production information to relevant colleagues

3.2. Incorporate information gained from outline/script into relevant documentation  and planning processes

Required Skills and Knowledge

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

This section describes the skills and knowledge required for this unit.

Required skills

  • for research skills needed to enhance understanding and appreciation of production context
  • literacy skills sufficient to analyse complex outlines/scripts to inform decision-making and planning

Required knowledge

  • documentation formats required for information extracted from performance outlines/scripts
  • broad historical and cultural context for types of productions relevant to the area of work

Evidence Guide

EVIDENCE GUIDE

The Evidence Guide provides advice on assessment and must be read in conjunction with the performance criteria, required skills and knowledge, range statement and the Assessment Guidelines for the Training Package.

Overview of assessment

Critical aspects for assessment and evidence required to demonstrate competency in this unit

The following evidence is critical to the judgement of competence in this unit:

  • knowledge of the format and structure of performance outlines/scripts in the relevant industry context
  • ability to apply techniques for the analysis and breakdown of a script to inform production planning.

Context of and specific resources for assessment

The assessment context must provide for:

  • practical demonstration of skills through the analysis of a script or performance outline and production of accurate documentation on specific production requirements.

Method of assessment

Assessment may incorporate a range of methods to assess performance and the application of essential underpinning knowledge, and might include:

  • review of documentation prepared by the candidate from outline/script analysis
  • discussion with the candidate to assess understanding of the outline/script
  • presentation of key information extracted from the outline/script
  • oral or written questioning to assess knowledge of cultural context, different formats relevant to the type of production
  • review of portfolios of evidence and third party workplace reports of on-the-job performance by the candidate.

Assessment methods should closely reflect workplace demands and the needs of particular groups (e.g. people with disabilities, and people who may have literacy or numeracy difficulties such as speakers of languages other than English, remote communities and those with interrupted schooling).

Guidance information for assessment

This unit requires access to:

  • scripts/performance outlines on which the candidate can work.

Range Statement
