Application

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to develop and discuss ideas for own creative work. It involves research and analysis, and participation in critical and informed discussion with others about the creative work for a particular art form.

The unit applies to those who work in a creative practice in any medium. This work would usually be carried out under mentored supervision.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Performance Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate the ability to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including evidence of the ability to:

  • generate at least three ideas for creative work using research and analysis.

In the course of the above, the candidate must:

  • identify potential ideas for creative work and draw links with own work
  • progress own work using ideas from research, analysis, and consider required constraints
  • present own ideas and challenge ideas in a discussion with others
  • analyse discussion outcomes and refine own ideas.

Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must be able to demonstrate knowledge to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including knowledge of:

  • historical and contemporary sources of information for idea development in chosen practice area
  • communication techniques facilitating productive discussions for creative work
  • collaboration techniques relating to creative practice
  • copyright and intellectual property issues affecting idea development of own creative work.

Assessment Conditions

Skills in this unit must be demonstrated in a workplace or simulated environment where the conditions are typical of those in a working environment in this industry.

This includes access to:

  • interaction with others.

Assessors of this unit must satisfy the requirements for assessors in applicable vocational educational and training legislation, frameworks and/or standards.
