Elements and Performance Criteria

ELEMENT

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

Elements describe the essential outcomes.

Performance criteria describe the performance needed to demonstrate achievement of the element.

1. Research range of specialised imaging technologies

1.1 Identify and review historic, contemporary and emerging specialised imaging technologies using credible information sources

1.2 Examine photo imaging discipline, subject matter and themes, and identify their specialist imaging technologies

1.3 Analyse connection between imaging technology and visual representation, attributes and opportunities of an image’s subject matter

1.4 Evaluate specialised imaging technologies and their corresponding imaging workflow

2. Test and evaluate attributes of specialised imaging technologies

2.1 Arrange access to specialised imaging technologies in cooperation with imaging specialists and suppliers

2.2 Use specialised imaging technologies following work health and safety procedures

2.3 Create test images by applying specialised imaging techniques and workflow

2.4 Review own performance in creation of test images

3. Create body of work using specialised imaging technologies

3.1 Select specialised imaging technology when creating innovative body of work

3.2 Develop concepts to guide creative vision using specialised imaging technology and techniques

3.3 Review and adapt imaging techniques as required

3.4 Plan, prepare and organise body of work for presentation using required technology and space

3.5 Document work processes using specialised imaging technology and archive imaging products according to industry standards

3.6 Evaluate personal performance in creation of body of work and identify concepts for further research

Foundation Skills

This section describes those language, literacy, numeracy and employment skills that are essential to performance but not explicit in the performance criteria.

  • evaluate own performance and identify one or more areas for improvement.

Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must be able to demonstrate knowledge to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including knowledge of:

  • common specialised imaging technologies, their attributes and their applications
  • opportunities offered by imaging technology to represent the subject matter in different ways
  • work health and safety considerations associated with imaging technology.

Assessment Conditions

Skills in this unit must be demonstrated in a workplace or simulated environment where the conditions are typical of those in a working environment in this industry.

This includes access to:
