Application

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to display a professional attitude when working in the creative arts industry. Individuals could be establishing a career as a performer in disciplines, such as dance, music, acting or circus skills, or they could be specialising in choreography, production management, arts administration, visual arts, design or community cultural development.

At this level people are expected to apply wide-ranging, highly specialised technical, creative or conceptual skills to express ideas and perspectives. Work activities are largely self-directed.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

To complete the unit requirements the individual must:

  • demonstrate well-developed knowledge of:
  • arts and cultural organisations in Australia and overseas
  • production companies
  • a wide range of roles in the creative arts industry
  • describe key aspects of the following in relation to working professionally in the creative arts industry:
  • copyright
  • moral rights and intellectual property issues
  • workplace meeting procedures.

Assessment Conditions

Assessment must be conducted in a safe environment where evidence gathered demonstrates consistent performance of typical activities experienced in creative arts industry environments. The assessment environment must include access to a creative arts industry work environment.

Assessors of this unit must satisfy the requirements for assessors in applicable vocational educational and training legislation, frameworks and/or standards.
