Qualification Description

This qualification reflects the role of individuals working or aspiring to work as performers in musical theatre and cabaret productions. Individuals are expected to apply theory and creative skills in different performance and rehearsal contexts and to display initiative and judgement in planning creative activities. They demonstrate leadership in performing complex creative and technical operations and can be responsible for planning, coordinating and evaluating the work of others within broad but generally well-defined parameters.

The job roles that relate to this qualification may include musical theatre performer, cabaret performer, or session vocalist.

Total number of units = 16

6 core units  plus

10 elective units , of which:

  • at least 5 units must be selected from Group A
  • of the remaining elective units:
  • all may be from Group A and/or Group B
  • up to 2 may be from this or any other currently endorsed Diploma or above training package qualification or accredited course
  • 1 may be from this or any other currently endorsed Certificate IV training package qualification or accredited course.

Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the overall integrity of the AQF alignment, not duplicate the outcome of another unit chosen for the qualification, and contribute to a valid industry-supported vocational outcome.
