Qualification Description

This qualification reflects the role of individuals working in a wide variety of performance contexts that require a combination of singing, dancing and acting skills. Individuals will need to develop and apply performance skills for both solo and ensemble contexts. They may provide leadership and guidance to others and have limited responsibility for the output of others.

The job roles that relate to this qualification may include musical theatre performer, arts administrative assistant (small theatre) or cabaret performer.

Packaging Rules

Total number of units = 15

8 core units  plus

7 elective units , of which:

  • at least 4 must be from Group A, with at least 1 from the ‘Acting’ sub-group, one from the ‘Dance’ sub-group and one from the ‘Voice and singing’ sub-group
  • of the remaining elective units:
  • up to 3 may be from Group A and/or Group B
  • up to 2 may be from this or any other currently endorsed Certificate IV or above training package qualification or accredited course
  • 1 may be from this or any other currently endorsed Certificate III or above training package qualification or accredited course.

Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the overall integrity of the AQF alignment, not duplicate the outcome of another unit chosen for the qualification, and contribute to a valid industry-supported vocational outcome.
