Qualification Description
This qualification reflects the role of individuals delivering housing support services and supports to tenants, applicants and the community in the social housing and homelessness sector.
They may be public housing specialist staff or people undertaking similar roles in the community housing sector. They work with vulnerable people who may be experiencing homelessness or at risk of experiencing homelessness.
Workers at this level may work under limited supervision in an administrative or assisting capacity.
The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.
No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.
Entry Requirements
There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
Packaging Rules
15 units must be completed:
- 8 core units
- 7 elective units, consisting of:
- at least 3 units from the electives units listed below
- up to 4 units from the electives listed below, elsewhere in the CHC Community Services Training Package or any other endorsed Training Package or accredited course.
Any combination of electives that meets the rules above can be selected for the award of the Certificate IV in Housing. Where appropriate, electives may be packaged to provide a qualification with a specialisation.
Packaging for each specialisation:
- All Group A electives must be selected for award of the Certificate IV in Housing (Homelessness Support Work).
- Three Group B electives must be selected for award of the Certificate IV in Housing (Social Housing).
- All Group A electives and three Group B electives must be selected for award of the Certificate IV in Housing (Social Housing and Homelessness Support Work).
- All electives chosen must contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.
