Release 1. This is the first release of this qualification in the AVI Aviation Training Package Release 7.

Qualification Description

This qualification provides individuals with technical and non-technical aviation skills to operate and supervise effectively in a broad range of ground operations and service roles.

Individuals working at this level will apply knowledge and skills to demonstrate autonomy and judgement and to take limited responsibility in known and stable contexts within established parameters.

Please note, RTO to insert on the testamur, the specialist elective group selected from the group choice below:

  • Certificate IV in Aviation (Aviation Supervision-Aerodromes)
  • Certificate IV in Aviation (Aviation Supervision-Cabin Crew)
  • Certificate IV in Aviation (Aviation Supervision-Ground Operations)

Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements that apply to this qualification can vary between states and territories. Compliance with these requirements may be required nationally and/or in various jurisdictions.

Use for Defence Aviation is to be in accordance with relevant Defence Orders, instructions, publications and regulations.

There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

Packaging Rules

A total 21 units of competency  comprising:

  • 13 core units, plus
  • 8 elective units consisting of:
  • 5 units from either Group A, Group B or Group C
  • all remaining elective units can be selected from the General Electives area or anywhere within this qualification.

Specialisations 

Candidates may specialise in a specific stream by completing the core units and elective units from one of the following:

  • Certificate IV in Aviation (Aviation Supervision-Aerodromes) = 13 core units plus 5 Group A units plus 3 units from anywhere in this qualification
  • Certificate IV in Aviation (Aviation Supervision-Cabin Crew) = 13 core units plus 5 Group B units plus 3 units from anywhere in this qualification
  • Certificate IV in Aviation (Aviation Supervision-Ground Operations) = 13 core units plus 5 Group C units plus 3 units from anywhere in this qualification.

Up to 2 of the elective units may be selected, with appropriate contextualisation, from a qualification in this or any other endorsed Training Package, provided selected units contribute to the vocational outcome of the qualification.

Where imported units are selected, care must be taken to ensure that all prerequisite units specified are complied with.
