Qualification Description
This qualification reflects the roles of flight crew personnel performing normal and emergency rescue crew duties in support of commercial or Defence aviation operations. Rescue crewman duties include applying technical and non-technical aviation skills and knowledge within rotary wing operational environments. This qualification forms some of the requirements for certification as flight crew by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) as described in Civil Aviation Order 20.11 Emergency and life saving equipment and passenger control in emergencies and Civil Aviation Safety Regulation (CASR) Part 64 Authorisations for non-licensed personnel. Civil and military rescue crew seeking authorisation as non-licensed personnel should check these requirements with CASA. Use for Defence Aviation is to be in accordance with relevant Defence Orders, Instructions, Publications and Regulations. Occupations may include : Helicopter Crewman Rescue Crewman Rescue Crewman Officer (RCO). |

Packaging Rules
A total of 14 units of competency comprising: 8 core units listed below plus 6 general elective units from the general elective units listed below. The general elective units must contribute to the vocational outcomes of the qualification. Where imported units are selected, care must be taken to ensure that all prerequisite units specified are complied with. The following imported unit has a prerequisite unit:

Qualification Mapping Information
This qualification replaces but is not equivalent to AVI30510 Certificate III in Aviation (Rescue Crewman).
