This qualification covers the skills and knowledge required to undertake specialist service and repair work on vehicles within the automotive service and repair sector. It is suitable for entry into the automotive specialist service and repair sector.

The Certificate III in Automotive Specialist is intended to prepare new employees or recognise and develop existing workers who service and repair specialist systems and components of cars and other vehicles.

Pathways into the qualification 

This qualification may be accessed by direct entry. Credit may be granted towards this qualification by those who have completed AUR20705 Certificate II in Automotive Mechanical Technology, AUR20505 Certificate II in Vehicle Servicing or other relevant qualifications.

Pathways from the qualification 

Further training pathways from this qualification include AUR40208 Certificate IV in Automotive Technology or other relevant qualifications.

Additional qualification advice 

The Certificate III in Automotive Specialist may be attained as a generic qualification, or where a particular occupational outcome is required, may include a specialisation.

Packaging Rules 

To be awarded the Certificate III in Automotive Specialist, competency must be achieved in twenty eight  (28 ) units of competency.

  • three  () core units of competency
  • twenty five  (25 ) elective units of competency, as specified below.

  • a minimum of nineteen  (19 ) elective units of competency from Group A
  • a maximum of six  () elective units of competency from Group B, drawn from any combination of:
  • units not already chosen from Group A
  • relevant units available in this Training Package, other endorsed Training Packages and accredited courses, where those units are aligned to Certificate II, III and IV qualifications
  • a maximum of eleven  (11 ) elective units of competency may be selected from units aligned to Certificate II qualifications
  • a maximum of two  () elective units of competency may be selected from units aligned to Certificate IV qualifications.

Note :

Where prerequisite units are identified they must be counted in the total number of units required for completion of the qualification.
