Qualification Description
This qualification describes the skills and knowledge for management job roles in agriculture, including managing livestock production, crop production and advice. Job roles vary across different industry sectors and may include:
- Farm production manager
- Production unit manager
- Station/property manager
- Pastoral operations manager
- Agricultural service providers.
Individuals with this qualification take personal responsibility and exercise autonomy in undertaking complex work. They must analyse information and exercise judgement to complete a range of advanced skilled activities.
This qualification applies to individuals with existing agriculture industry experience and technical skills and knowledge gained through training or employment specifically in the agriculture industry.
Work must comply with health and safety and environmental regulations and legislation that apply to the workplace.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.
Entry Requirements
There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
Packaging Rules
To achieve this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in:
- 10 units of competency:
- 2 core units plus
- 8 elective units.
Elective units must ensure the integrity of the qualification’s Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome. The electives can be chosen to provide a general qualification or a qualification with a specialisation.
For the award of the Diploma of Agriculture choose:
- 2 units from group A
- 4 units not already selected from groups A or B
- the remaining 2 units must be selected from units listed in groups A or B, or any currently endorsed Training Package or accredited course.
For the award of the Diploma of Agriculture (Organic Production) choose:
- 4 units from group A with the unit code AHCORG, one of which must be AHCORG506 Manage an agroecology production system
- 2 unit not already selected from groups A or B
- the remaining 2 units must be selected from electives listed in groups A or B, or any currently endorsed Training Package or accredited course.
