Application
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to participate in the preparation and review of animal care education programs and their implementation within the community at large.
This unit applies to veterinary nurses who work independently, under the supervision of a registered veterinarian in a veterinary practice. Veterinary nurses who deliver animal care education programs need to hold and apply specialised knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology and animal care methods. It may also apply to other animal care and management workers that deliver education programs in a community.
All work must be carried out to comply with workplace procedures according to state/territory health and safety and animal welfare regulations, legislation and standards that apply to the workplace.
Legislative and regulatory requirements apply to veterinary nurses but vary according to state/territory jurisdictions. Users must check with the relevant regulatory authority before delivery.
