Qualification Description
This is a qualification for the Performance Horse industry. Job roles may require a person to manage equine staff and business operations for a small to medium sized performance horse enterprise or function as part of a management team in a larger equine organisation.
The qualification applies to individuals who undertake management activities operating independently or within an enterprise management team.
The qualification covers the skills and knowledge required to:
- manage physical, financial and human resources
- manage operational functions related to horse care, nutrition, health, welfare, training, breeding and preparation for events
- manage farm and business operations
- develop business plans and operational procedures
- monitor, review and report on operational performance.
No occupational licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Entry Requirements
There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
Packaging Rules
To achieve this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in:
- 14 units of competency:
- 8 core units plus
- 6 elective units.
Elective units must ensure the integrity of the qualification’s Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome. The electives are to be chosen as follows:
- 4 from electives listed below
- up to 2 from the electives listed below and/or from any currently endorsed Training Package or accredited course.
