Description:
The Certificate II in Ecology is designed for vegetation-removal and pruning workers/operators who undertake pruning and removal of vegetation by climbing or operating elevating work platforms (EWPs). These workers may also operate machinery such as mowers, mulchers or mechanical high reach saws, forestry fellers and forwarders, and earth moving equipment.
On attainment of the qualification graduates will have the skills and knowledge to:
• identify flora and fauna at a basic level so as to minimise the ecological impact of their activities and to avoid harming fauna and flora at the designated worksite
• rescue and apply first aid if an animal is injured at a worksite.
• apply vegetation management techniques to create and maintain habitat refuges.
Nominal hours range from 390 to 430 plus 80 hours of work placement.
