Description:
This course is intended to provide participants with a broad range of knowledge, abilities, and skills to perform the following functions:
• Provide effective frontline health and nutrition advice support services to the public and individual clients.
• Effectively engage and communicate with a broad demographic of clients, including children and those of diverse cultural background.
• Promote the importance of healthy eating in the community, educating on effective nutrition in accordance with the Australian Dietary Guidelines.
• Be capable of pre-screening clients, to identify and evaluate the risk of providing nutritional advice to clients in specific circumstances.
• Appropriately refer to medical and allied health professionals if clients require advice and assistance that is out of the scope of the graduate’s skill, knowledge and expertise.
• Apply depth of understanding of diet-related diseases, and associated terminologies, in diverse contextual ranges.
• Provide effective contribution to the health of clients by supporting the recommendations of medical and allied health professionals.
