Description:
The Specialist Pilates Movement Therapy practitioner/instructor works independently as a Specialist Allied Health professional and requires the ability to work with high risk clients whose requirements are individual and unique and range from rehabilitation to performance enhancement.
Vocational outcomes:
• Specialist Pilates practitioners/instructors within Pilates studios
• Specialist Pilates practitioners/instructors within other organisations such as Allied Health clinics
• Self-employed - Pilates Movement Therapy studio owner/operator.
Graduates will have the required knowledge and skills to perform the following specialist skills:
• manage a Pilates and/or Allied Health practice
• provide individual instruction and small group instruction to clients diagnosed with chronic and complex conditions who require rehabilitation
• provide individual and small group instruction to performing artists and elite athletes requiring injury prevention, rehabilitation and performance enhancement instruction
Graduates work autonomously and require a broad and deep knowledge of the advanced Pilates Movement Therapy exercise repertoire as well as in-depth knowledge of anatomy & physiology, biomechanics, Somatics and psychological theories (as they apply to exercise)
