Description:
This course will provide participants with a range of knowledge and skills to perform the following functions associated with a Pilates instructor and practitioner:
• Pilates Movement Therapy practitioners/instructors deliver classes in Pilates to the public to enhance their general health and wellbeing and/or for health rehabilitation
• Pilates Movement Therapy practitioners/instructors work independently as an Allied Health professionals to engage clients from a physiotherapeutic context.
• Pilates Movement Therapy practitioners/instructors are employed as instructors within Pilates studios or may be self-employed as owner/operator for their own studio.
Function/duty/specialist skills for Pilates practitioners include:
• Designing and developing Pilates classes for small groups
• Designing and developing Pilates programs for individuals
• Pre-exercise screening of clients
• Communicating with Allied Health professionals
• Instructing Pilates classes for small groups
• Providing Pilates instruction to individual clients
• Managing a Pilates studio
• Managing own small business
