The Certificate IV in Bereavement Support is designed for those who have a role in
providing support to those experiencing bereavement and loss. The skills and knowledge provided by the course may be for a specific bereavement support job role or to complement other job roles such as those of nurses, personal care assistants, funeral service workers and teachers.
The Certificate IV in Bereavement Support provides a holistic approach to providing best-practice workplace support for bereavement in all workplaces and industries requiring bereavement support, including nursing, palliative care, health care, community services, aged care and the funeral & cemetery industry.

The key elements of this course are:
• How to provide effective bereavement support
• Providing culturally sensitive bereavement support
• Understanding the needs of special groups
• An understanding and application of basic counselling skills, including empathic listening and non-verbal communication
• Provide bereavement support strategies
• Supporting carers and families
• Capacity building and quality management for real workplace environments
• Understanding legal and ethical situations that may arise in providing bereavement support
