Description:

This course is intended to provide health professional/student with the essential skills and knowledge to perform specialised micro-suction and aural hygiene care. The health professional will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the following:
● in-depth understanding of the structure, physiology and normal functioning of the ear
● landmarks of the outer, middle and inner ear
● specific ear conditions and abnormalities
● disease processes of the ear
● recognition of the signs and symptoms of common clinical conditions
● surgical interventions of the ear
● predisposing factors related to ear wax
● treatment of ear conditions/ear wax
● medico Legal requirements
● scope of practice of the registered nurse
● infection control
● work health safety
