General education outcomes
The Course in Skills to Develop Learning Pathways is intended to provide participants with the core skills in learning, reading, writing, oral communication and numeracy, at a minimum Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) exit level of 1, which is typically required to progress on to meaningful further learning pathways based on learner interests, needs and aspirations across different aspects of life – personal (including higher level core skills), community involvement, vocational training or general education.
Participants would likely have a limited existing level of skills in learning, reading, writing, oral communication, and numeracy and a limited exposure to formal learning environments. They may include English as an additional language (EAL) learners, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, migrants, refugees and youth at risk.
