Description:
This course is intended to provide participants with a range of knowledge, and skills to perform the following functions associated with being an Assistant Teacher:
• Knowledge of policies and procedures and their link to legislative requirements in Education
• Child protection reporting requirements – legal and ethical
• Use of and interaction with school-based curriculum
• Self-awareness and reflective practice
• Management and team facilitation skills
• Knowledge of pedagogy and its application in a school environment
• Collaborate with others to prepare team activities
• Plan and delivery learning to small groups
• Facilitate and support student learning
• Engage students in productive learning
• Provide leadership on embedding intercultural practices in the classroom
• Use knowledge of effective strategies for specific learning areas to contribute to teaching and learning in the classroom
