This unit was released in NWP Water Training Package release 1.0 and meets the Standards for Training Packages. This unit supersedes and is equivalent to NWP321B Inspect and operate groundwater regulation.

Application
This unit describes the skills required to inspect, operate, measure and report on groundwater usage and system performance.
This unit applies to those working as field and operational staff with a specific responsibility for inspecting and checking groundwater sources.
The skills and knowledge described in this unit must be applied within the legislative, regulatory and policy environment in which they are carried out. Organisational policies and procedures must be consulted and adhered to, particularly those related to WHS.
Those undertaking this unit would work under indirect supervision while performing routine tasks in a familiar context, ensuring minimum damage to the environment.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to unit at the time of publication.

1. Inspect and report on source performance and usage |
1.1 Carry out routine inspections of groundwater bores. 1.2 Collect and record data on groundwater usage and/or bore levels. 1.3 Collect and record water samples. 1.4 Select, fit and use required safety equipment, including personal protective equipment. |
2. Check pumps and meters |
2.1 Test bore pumps and check flow meters to determine accuracy. 2.2 Adjust pumps and flow meters to conform to the allocation permit. |
3. Operate and coordinate processes |
3.1 Measure and record extraction volumes. 3.2 Check extraction volumes for compliance with entitlement. |
4. Complete documentation |
4.1 Record inspection results. 4.2 Report source data. |
