Modification History
Release 1. Redesigned qualification merging MEA60118 Advanced Diploma of Aviation Maintenance Management (Avionics) and MEA60218 Advanced Diploma of Aviation Maintenance Management (Mechanical).
Qualification Description
This qualification reflects the roles of mechanical or avionic maintenance managers and integrated logistic support (ILS) managers in both the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and Defence Aviation Safety Authority (DASA) regulatory environments.
Workers apply broad aviation maintenance skills and knowledge to manage maintenance compliance, risks, safety, and personnel according to established procedures and operating variables. This may include identifying and addressing requirements and problems within complex and changing contexts.
This qualification applies to workplaces that operate under the airworthiness regulatory systems of DASA and CASA. Any regulatory or licensing requirements associated with any MEA units of competency must be met.
Entry Requirements
Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who have:
- performed scheduled inspections, fault diagnosis and repair, and modification of:
- airframes and airframe mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components, or
- aircraft electrical, instrument and radio systems and system components
- applied scientific and mathematical principles and techniques according to established procedures and operating variables
- led a team or managed areas or processes that involved communicating, demonstrating, coordinating and supervising work methods, compliance and safety standards.
Evidence of these competencies is provided through one of the following:
- at least five years current aviation (mechanical or avionics) maintenance experience
- Maintenance Engineer Licence (Avionics) issued by CASA
- Maintenance Engineer Licence (Mechanical) issued by CASA
- Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Avionics)
- Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Mechanical)
- Diploma of Aviation Maintenance Management
Packaging Rules
Total number of units = 20
- 15 core units
- 5 elective units, consisting of:
