This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to support the conduct of sub-unit (60–130 persons) level offensive operations. It includes preparing and planning for operations and supporting sub-unit level offensive activities. It also includes coordinating sub-unit administrative activities. Many duties are also administrative in nature. In the absence of the commander or secondincommand the person may be required to supervise the sub-unit requiring independent action and leadership by example. Offensive operations are characterised by rapid shifts of the main effort to take advantage of opportunities and momentum to defeat hostile forces through the capture or destruction of critical objectives. The skills and knowledge described in this unit must be applied within the legislative, regulatory and policy environment in which they are carried out.
