Modification History

Release 1. This is the first release of this qualification in the AVI Aviation Training Package.

  • New specialisation stream for Flight Operations and Security Supervisors added
  • Removal of unit AVIF0029 Implement threat and error management strategies from the core that was added in error previously.

Qualification Description

This qualification provides individuals with technical and non-technical aviation skills to operate and supervise effectively in a broad range of ground operations and service roles.

Individuals working at this level will apply knowledge and skills to demonstrate autonomy and judgement and to take limited responsibility in known and stable contexts within established parameters.

  • Certificate IV in Aviation (Supervision-Aerodromes)
  • Certificate IV in Aviation (Supervision-Cabin Crew)
  • Certificate IV in Aviation (Supervision-Ground Operations)
  • Certificate IV in Aviation (Supervision-Flight Operations)
  • Certificate IV in Aviation (Supervision-Security Screening)

Use for Defence Aviation is to be in accordance with relevant Defence Orders, instructions, publications and regulations.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

Packaging Rules

A total 20 units of competency  comprising:

  • 12 core units  listed below, plus 
  • 8 elective units , consisting of:
  • 5 units  from either Group A, Group B, Group C, Group D or Group E, plus 
  • 3 elective units  from the general elective units or units from the groups not already selected.

Up to 2 of the elective units  may be selected, with appropriate contextualisation, from a qualification in this or any other endorsed Training Package or accredited course, provided selected units contribute to the vocational outcome of the qualification.

Where imported units are selected, care must be taken to ensure that all prerequisite units specified are complied with.

Specialisations 

Candidates may specialise in a specific stream by completing the core units and elective units from one of the following:

  • Certificate IV in Aviation (Supervision-Aerodromes) = 12 core units plus 5 Group A units plus 3 units from anywhere in this qualification
  • Certificate IV in Aviation (Supervision-Cabin Crew) = 12 core units plus 5 Group B units plus 3 units from anywhere in this qualification
  • Certificate IV in Aviation (Supervision-Ground Operations) = 12 core units plus 5 Group C units plus 3 units from anywhere in this qualification
  • Certificate IV in Aviation (Supervision-Flight Operations) = 12 core units plus 5 Group D units plus 3 units from anywhere in this qualification.
  • Certificate IV in Aviation (Supervision-Security Screening) = 12 core units plus 5 Group E units plus 3 units from anywhere in this qualification.
